Beneficial Food for a Healthy Heart


The center of the cardiovascular system is the HEART. This organ is responsible for almost everything that gives life to our body. For all that, it is of vital importance to choose the food we eat as well as the quantity of food we consume, and the activity we perform during the day.



  1. Grapefruit

Grapefruit is rich in antioxidants and soluble fiber, which helps protect against heart disease. Therefore, it is recommended to consume half a grapefruit 3-4 times a week.


  1. Fruit nuts and seeds

Almonds, flax seeds, pistachios, sesame and sunflower seeds reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol. Walnuts reduce triglycerides.

Therefore, consume half a handful of these nuts and seeds for snacks every day.


  1. Oily fish

Omega-3 fatty acids present in oily fish reduce triglycerides and bad cholesterol. Eat fish twice a week. It is best to eat salmon, tuna, sardines or herring.




  1. Apples

Studies show that eating apples or drinking apple juice reduces bad cholesterol in the body. Apples are the perfect snack.

Do not peel the skin of the apple. It has a lot of antioxidants and fiber, which are needed for our body.


  1. Oat bran

The fiber found in oat bran binds the acids in the intestine and prevent the re-absorption of cholesterol.

For breakfast, mix half a cup of oat bran and 1 cup of low-fat milk.


  1. White wine

Phytochemicals, which are found in white wine, increase the level of good cholesterol in the body and antioxidants protect the coronary arteries from damage caused by free radicals.

Drink one to two glasses of wine a day, but no more. Grapes are a good source of polyphenols.


  1. Legumes

Legumes reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower the risk of heart and artery disease.

Soy is also known as cleaner of the arteries. According to all these legumes should be present in our daily menu.
